Deputy CFO / Finance Manager
Human Factor is seeking a Deputy CFO / Finance Manager for a leading company in the retail and food ingredients industry, offering a clear and structured succession path to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) position.
About the Role
The successful candidate will join the company as Deputy CFO / Finance Manager, working closely with the current CFO and taking responsibility for the day-to-day management and oversight of the Finance and Administration functions.
This is a strategic succession role. The successful candidate will work alongside with current CFO for approximately one year, allowing for a structured transfer of knowledge, responsibilities, business understanding, and key internal and external relationships. The role combines hands-on financial management with leadership responsibility across accounting, tax compliance, payroll, treasury, reporting, and financial controls. The successful candidate will also work closely with the company's international Group, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting within strict deadlines.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee and lead the Finance and Administration function, managing a team of approximately 9 employees across Accounting, Payroll, and Administration
Ensure the accuracy and integrity of accounting records and financial statements
Ensure full compliance with Greek tax and employment legislation, including VAT and myDATA requirements
Oversee the preparation of financial statements in accordance with International Accounting Standards
Coordinate with external auditors and support statutory, internal, and external audits
Supervise the payroll process for approximately 80 employees, ensuring accuracy, timely payment, and compliance
Support HR-related activities, including recruitment, employment contracts, leave management, and employee evaluations, in collaboration with Management
Manage treasury activities, cash flow, banking relationships, and financial approvals within the company's established framework
Monitor budgets, forecasts, and cash flow projections and provide financial reporting and insights to Management
Prepare regular and time-critical financial reporting for the international Group
Present financial results, forecasts, and business outlook to senior Management
Contribute to business planning, investment projects, and key financial decisions
Oversee the financial aspects of the company's cooperation with external business partners
Provide oversight of the company's IT and financial systems in cooperation with external technology partners
Support the effective use and further development of ERP, Payroll, and Business Intelligence tools
Drive continuous improvement of financial processes, systems, controls, and reporting
Ensure adherence to internal policies, procedures, and control frameworks
Build strong working relationships with auditors, tax and legal advisors, banks, technology providers, and other external stakeholders
Work closely with the current CFO throughout the transition period, progressively assuming additional responsibilities
Successfully transition into the CFO position following the planned approximately one-year succession period
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field
Professional accounting qualification and/or advanced academic qualification will be considered an advantage
Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in accounting and finance positions of increasing responsibility
Strong experience in accounting and financial management, ideally within a commercial or retail environment
Proven experience managing and developing finance teams
Excellent knowledge of Greek tax and employment legislation and International Accounting Standards
Strong understanding of treasury, cash flow management, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting
Experience with reporting to an international Group or multinational organization will be considered a strong advantage
Very good knowledge of ERP systems and advanced MS Excel skills
Familiarity with Softone Payroll, myDATA, and Business Intelligence tools will be considered an advantage
Excellent command of the English language
Professional experience in a family-owned, entrepreneurial, or flexible organizational environment will be considered a plus
Strong understanding of financial controls, audit processes, and compliance requirements
Hands-on approach with the ability to combine strategic thinking with operational involvement
