Business Unit Head-Medical Equipment

Human Factor is seeking, on behalf of a client, a leading distributor of ophthalmic instruments providing advanced equipment solutions, a Business Unit Head.

About the role

The successful candidate will oversee the full business unit operations, from strategic planning and sales leadership to project execution and customer relationship management. You will play a hands-on role in expanding market share, managing large-scale hospital projects, and ensuring excellence in customer service and technical delivery. This position requires a combination of leadership, industry knowledge, and commercial acumen, with a focus on delivering turnkey ophthalmic solutions and fostering strong partnerships across the healthcare ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute the business unit’s strategic plan aligned with overall company objectives

  • Lead and mentor the sales team to achieve and exceed targets, while actively contributing through hands-on sales

  • Build strong relationships with ophthalmologists, healthcare providers, and key decision-makers

  • Oversee tender participation and large-scale hospital projects

  • Expand market share through new partnerships and product portfolio development

  • Ensure efficient supply, installation, and maintenance of ophthalmic equipment

  • Collaborate with technical teams to deliver turnkey solutions (from consultation to installation)

  • Maintain high standards of customer satisfaction and after-sales service

  • Work closely with suppliers and manufacturers to ensure product competitiveness and innovation

  • Travel as required to clients, partner sites, and conferences

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Biomedical Engineering, or related field (MBA preferred)

  • 5+ years of experience in medical devices or healthcare equipment, preferably ophthalmology

  • Proven track record in sales leadership and business growth

  • Strong understanding of hospital procurement processes and private healthcare markets

  • Excellent leadership, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills
